I haven’t really settled on a place anymore, I kind of like the idea of it being the whole city. I want to wander the streets, getting lost and capturing the crowds and faceless people of the busy city, perhaps even representing my own feelings in the city. Evoking the ghostly images of Titarenko’s City of Shadows but I want to build upon those, drawing from other styles and photographers to create my own unique and developed images. My ideas of the faceless city creep over from my subway photography and perhaps may actually be a better development in exploring that notion in this new direction.
The presenting of History, if essential to the brief, will need to be thought about. Perhaps I could go to significant historical places in London and capture the ghosts there. One such example is heading to the various plague pit sites over London and taking pictures there. The evoking of ‘ghosts’ would then be presented in a different and much more literal way.
I wonder if there is a way I could really contextualise these images and deepen their meaning to the audience.
